With surfing we will face our fears, with meditation we learn how to control our emotions. If you understand the wave and how it moves, you don’t have to be afraid of it and this is the same with life. If we understand the cycle of life, why we have to face challenges, we will see our fears as our friends and not as our enemies. To surf is to make peace with our fears, to meditate is to intergrade this into our personal growth in life. 

Women only

Be Kind retreats are for women only, as we strongly believe in the power of females healing together. As for being women ourselves we understand the struggle with negative self-beliefs, extremely high standards and destructive perfectionism. We aim for a sisterhood community that empowers one another. By gathering together as women we tend to feel more comfortable in addressing certain subjects and talk freely about taboos. When women come together, share, talk and release, real healing is the results.

For who

For every woman who is ready to feel their freedom from inside, to gain your inner strength back, to love yourself and your imperfections, to let go of personal struggles, to forgive yourself. For women who are dealing with a burn-out, depression, eating disorder, anxiety or an all over feeling that life is not giving you enough or the constant fight of pushing yourself. Be Kind guests are from all over the world and mostly between 20 and 35 years old. To us, age is just a number and we welcome women of any age.

Mindful surfing

The nature of waves, energy moving in the water, is the same as our nature. When we practice meditation we can rise up our energy into our spine: the energy of life. With meditation, we are not riding waves, but our thoughts. The goal of meditation is not to quiet the mind or to empty it, it is to learn how to ride the waves of our mind. In one moment our minds can feel like a storm, but when we start to meditate, we learn how to make our thoughts become more gentle and the sea gets soft.

The more we practice surf and meditation, the more we will be able to calm our minds to the point that we feel happiness in daily life. Surfing will help us to practice different spiritual believes: strength, courage and trust. We build strength in the process of learning to surf. When we learn how to ride the waves it will take courage to trust mother nature and ourselves. Meditation will help us to intergrade this spiritual believes in daily life.

Women circle

When we share our stories and personal struggles we realise we are not alone. We often think everyone around us is always happy and have perfect lives and that we are the only one having unacceptable problems or thoughts. Women circles increases the feeling that we are all together in this. We can support each other and motivate each other. Real connection is a powerful tool in the path of healing.

During a women circle we create rituals to find this support and connection with each other and this is when the magic happens: the power of healing together.

Learn to meditate

Learning how to meditate is learning how to get to know yourself. Most people know meditation as a spiritual practice, but nowadays we can use meditation for a more practical daily activity. After a week at Be Kind, you will be able to integrate meditation into your daily life. You can eat healthy, do lots of yoga, but if we are not caring for our mind, we are not completely healthy. Stress is the sugar of the soul and meditation will learn you to have less stress, in relationships, work and daily life. You will learn different meditations techniques, some more spiritual, some more practical.

Yoga

The focus in the Be Kind yoga classes are on our YIN side. The feminine side, emotions, feelings, creativity and intuition are part of our yin side. In daily life we are often active in our YANG side. The yang side is our rational and analytical mind, but we believe we also need a connection with our YIN side in order to feel freedom from within.

The women attending Be Kind retreats often feel lost in life or disconnected from themselves. YIN yoga sn the answer to reconnect with our true self, to be soft and to stay soft to ourselves. The moment we put a lot of pressure on ourselves, we need YIN yoga in order to heal ourselves and to give love to ourselves.

All classes are suited for every woman. We don’t see you as a beginner or advanced, but we will focus on your strengths, giving you some challenges and sometimes bring you a little out of your comfort zone. This will all lead to self-growth, compassion and freedom from within.
